Scott Thybony will talk about his new book, The Incredible Grand Canyon. It will include bits of canyon lore which have slipped through the cracks and a few of the classic stories that still resonate. It will include a few scandals, a little romance, and some grand schemes gone awry. And since people never seem to tire of hearing about other people getting in over their heads, you’ll find a few cliffhangers thrown in. Adrienne Rose, Volunteer & Textile Historian, Riordan Mansion State Park. Extraordinary volunteer Adrienne Rose will discuss styles of women’s clothing popular from the late 1880’s through the 1960’s. This program is a slide presentation featuring garments worn by three generations of Riordan women. Clothing and accessories from the early 1880s to the mid 1970s are included. In some cases a picture of a family member wearing a particular garment can be viewed. A brief section on how to date historic garments as well as preserve them will be discussed.
